The object of the invention is to automate or program the speed variations which are generally obtained by a reducer, multiplier or gearbox. In the device the pinion 11 drives the gears 7 and 9 which due to their twinning with 6 and 8 drive the pinion 10. If the rotor 3 is immobilised, the pinion 11 transmits the whole of its nominal speed transformed by the twinned pinions to the pinion 10. If under the influence of the motor 21 the rotor 3 withdraws in one direction or the other, the gears 6 and 8 lose their bearing points thus leading to a loss of their driving function. At a certain speed of 21 their effect becomes nil. If, exceeding the nil point the speed of 21 is increased, the movement of 10 becomes negative, the angular movements of 21 can be programmed or receive information from the dynamometer 41 and the variator is sensitive. The invention applies to all machines, plant, vehicles which use variable speeds. <IMAGE>
