PURPOSE:To improve vacuum-resistant strength by using grid-type ribs and box-type metal plate press molds as the rear panel and also using a transparent glass plate with a frame-type side wall as the display surface panel. CONSTITUTION:A rear panel 17 is created by press-molding a metal plate with almost the same thermal expansion coefficient of the glass for a display surface panel 9 so as to be provided with a rear section 10, four-side wall surface section 11, flange-shaped collar 12, and grid-type ribs 13 and the display surface panel 9 is created by using a transparent glass plate with a frame-type side wall at a peripheral section. In addition, a container such as large-scale flat surface type television picture tube is formed by joining the collar section 14 of the rear panel 17 and the upper end face 15 on the side wall 14 of the display surface panel 9. As a result, the vacuum-resistant strength resulting from the pressure difference inside and outside the container can be improved without damaging mass production and the light weight can be attained. |
