Sewage treatment by chemical injection

In a sewage purification system, the sewage is mixed with chemicals and delivered to a separator. A purified water effluent is removed from the top of the separator and a portion of the sludge is recycled to be mixed with the sewage feed. Pref. the flow rate through the mixer is 20-180 l/min. and the recycled sludge comprises 6% of this total flow. - The sewage is mixed in two U-shaped chambers which include baffles to provide the mixing function. The outlet of the downstream mixer is delivered to a splitter which delivers two streams of mixed sewage to opposite sides of the separator.
