PURPOSE:To attain easy connections to external devices by constituting an interface controller so that the data bit width of an interface can be changed automatically the external devices according to the number of connection cables to those external devices. CONSTITUTION:An interface controller 140 is connected to a memory 130 and a central processor 120 via a common input/outpt bus 110. While external device 150 and 151 are connected to the controller 140 via connection cables 160 and 161 according to the purpose of application of a data processing system. The controller 140 changes automatically the data bit width of an interface to devices 150 and 151 according to the number of connection cables 160 and 161 and performs the transfer of data. |
