PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer material capable of applying high temp. printing to a recording medium inferior to surface smoothness, by providing first and second ink layers on a support and forming the second ink layer in an uneven state and making the molding temp. thereof higher than that of the first ink layer. CONSTITUTION:The thermal transfer ink layer formed on a support 12 such as a known film or paper consists of a first ink layer 13a and a second ink layer 13b and the melting temp. of the first ink layer is 30-100 deg.C, pref., 60-90 deg.C and the melt viscosity thereof is adjusted by a heat-meltable binder and an additive so as to be set to 0.5-500cps at 150 deg.C. The second ink layer 13b is formed on the first ink layer 13a in an uneven state and the melting temp. thereof is 5-90 deg.C, pref., 10-80 deg.C higher than that of the first ink layer 13a and the melt viscosity thereof is 200-1,000,000cps at 150 deg.C and the area of island like parts 7 in the cross-sectional area at a height 1/3 the height of protruded parts is pref., in a range of 10-98%. |
