There are described bicyclic compounds of the general formula <IMAGE> wherein one of the symbols R<1> and R<2> represents hydrogen and the other represents hydrogen or a substituted or unsubstituted C1-4-alkylgroup and X represents a substituted or unsubstituted C1-3-alkanoyloxy group, an unsubstituted or substituted C3-7- cycloalkylthio, C2-6-alkenylthio or heterocyclylthio group or a substituted C1-4-alkylthio or phenylthio group, their readily hydrolyzable esters, pharmaceutically compatible salts as well as hydrates of these compounds. There are also described the manufacture of these substances and their use in the treatment or prophylaxis of infectious diseases as well as intermediates useful in the manufacturing process. |
