Topical compsn. comprising a tissue extract in aq. soln., contg. components of human skin, which has previously been partially electrolysed by exposure to the ionising action of a low-frequency electric field. For application to human skin in conjunction with low-frequency, non-ionising electric field to the dermis to improve healing of scars and skin lesions, e.g., weals and acne scars by promotion of growth of organised tissue of new parallel fibres. Typically, an aq. soln. of embryonic, placental collagen or vitreous humour extract is electrolysed first by square-wave electric field for 5 days, then by alternating electric current (10,000 Hz) for a further 5 days.
