A water- and ground moisture-insulating material which comprises 30 parts by weight of a mixture formed from 10 parts by weight of styrene-butadiene copolymer and 20 parts by weight of xylene, 15 parts by weight of xylene and 55 parts by weight of epoxidised coal tar with 1% by weight of phenol, based on the weight of the coal tar, and optionally contains, per 10 parts by volume of insulating material, 1 part by volume of a mixture of 8 parts by volume of acrylic resin granules and 25 parts by volume of methylene chloride. The insulating material has very good adhesion to all subtrates and is suitable for insulating all wet areas and as a precoating for flat roofs.
