The sound-dampening conduit section is for an air-conditioning system, and is of rectangular cross-section. It contains a number of sound-dampening panels, each formed by two parallel plates (1,2) joined together along the edges to form an airtight Cchamber. A plate (5) of porous sound-absorbent material is mounted in the chamber. The latter can be mineral wool, approximately 12.5 mm thick and there can be further sound-absorbent plates between the separate panels.
