Scraper chain conveyor with intermediate drives

Scraper chain conveyors used in underground mineral coal mining can convey larger quantities with the same driving power or can be made smaller but convey the same quantities if intermediate drives are inserted at specific intervals, corresponding to the operating conditions in each case. The same intermediate drives are mounted in or on a guide which is accessible from the goaf side and simultaneously accepts both the forward chain and the reverse chain. The forward chain and the reverse chain are designed with rolling trolleys, which roll on appropriate rails and in so doing considerably reduce the loss due to friction. The carriers are foldably fastened to angular extensions, so that the carrier of the reverse chain can be guided in each case perpendicularly to the conveying run. The ability of such a conveyor to negotiate curves is considerably increased, as the carriers are fastened to only one end of the chain in each case. <IMAGE>
