It is known to desulphurise flue gases by passing them through a scrubber. In order to achieve the necessary chimney temperature of the clean gas stream, the heat of the crude gas stream is utilised which can be transferred to the clean gas stream via a heat displacement system. As long as the temperatures lie above the dew point of sulphuric acid, materials such as steel can be used for this. However, difficulties result if the temperatures are below the dew point of sulphuric acid, so that special measures have been found.
The invention now provides staggered heat displacement systems 13, 14, in which, initially, in a relatively high temperature range, heat exchangers 3, 7 made of steel are connected together via a heat transport medium and, in a downstream second heat displacement system 14, heat exchangers 4, 6 made of corrosion-resistant and antiadhesive plastics are used.
