PURPOSE:To obtain efficiently a hardened steel strip which is free from shear droop, burr, etc. on cut surfaces by half-cutting the broad strip to plural strips, subjecting the strips to hardening and tempering treatments then parting the strips to plural fine strips. CONSTITUTION:The broad steel strip 1 is half-cut to plural small-width steel strips by a half-slitter 3. The slitter 3 is disposed alternately with slit rolls 5 at the prescribed clearances maintained therebetween in the prescribed positions of a pair of roll shafts 4, 4', by which shearing bites together with rolling deformation are formed on the stripe 1. The strip 1 is then conducted into a heat-treating furnace 7 and is heat-treated by passing through a hardening zone 8 and a tempering zone 9, by which the strip 1 is hardened. The steel strip is passed in succession between a pair of rolls 10 and 10' and is parted along the shearing bite parts to the small-width steel strips. |
