The duration of time intervals during which the sensed utensil temperature for a turned-on surface unit is less than a threshold temperature is measured. If such a time interval exceeds a predetermined time limit, the surface unit is de-energized and a user discernible signal is generated indicating to the user that no utensil is present on the surface unit.</p> |
