PURPOSE:To provide a jig for a molten nonferrous metal having an extended service life by coating the jig with a thermally srayed composite film composed of silicon nitride and metal or metallic oxide. CONSTITUTION:A composite thermal spraying material composed of the metallic oxide such as, for example, alumina powder, spinel (MgO.Al2O3) and silicon nitride powder is prepd. and such material is thermally sprayed by a plasma spraying device, etc. to form the composite thermal spray coating on the above- mentioned jig for a ladle, lance for gas bubbling, die, etc. The silicon nitride is more preferably silicon nitride whiskers which consist adequately of >=98% alpha-Si3N4 and have about 0.5-1mum diameter and about 100-200mum length. The above-mentioned jig having the long service life is obtd. by such constitution. |
