<p>PURPOSE:To enable the cost of a small-type sealed lead storage battery to be reduced by bringing a positive and a negative active material into contact with the larger surface and the smaller surface of a deformed lead member having projections which fill the perforations of a plastic plate and is fixed to the peripheries of the perforations. CONSTITUTION:After the projections 4 of a structure 3 made of lead are inserted into the perforations 2 of a plastic plate 1, these members are physically pressed from their outside while heating as necessary to deform the projections 4. By this operation, the structure 3 and its projections 4 are deformed into sections 3' and 4' which fill the spaces 2' of the perforations 2 and are firmly fixed to their peripheries, thereby maintaining the airtightness of the perforations 2. Next, a negative paste 6 is packed into the thus formed plastic plate 1 before pressing this body to bring the negative paste 6 into close contact with the negative grid 4'. Next, a pellet formed by punching a member prepared by applying a positive paste 5 to one surface of a separator 7, is packed into the plastic plate 1. After that a required number of thus formed bodies are stacked and joined together either by an adhesive or by fusion.</p> |
