A rainwater inlet which can be blocked in order to prevent overloading of a sewerage system

An inlet housing 1 with a storm-water retention basin is shown in which a control inlet 23 is arranged beside the main inlet 22, the upper opening 3 of the control inlet 23 being situated at a higher level than the upper opening 2 of the main inlet 22. The control inlet 23 exhibits a holding tank 6, provided with a throttled discharge opening 7, for the incoming rainwater. The tank 6 is fastened at one end of a double lever 10 which carries a blocking member 12 for the main inlet 22 and a displaceable weight 11 at its other end. With a small amount of rainfall, the collected water immediately runs away out of the container 6 via the throttle opening 7 while, with a heavy and persistent rainfall, the collected water rises in the tank 6 and, when it reaches a specific water level set by the weight 11, brings the blocking member 12 into the closing position and thus closes off the main inlet 22, with the result that the water is dammed in the retention basin. When the water collected in the tank 6 has flowed away through the throttled discharge opening 7, after the rain has stopped, the blocking member 12 opens automatically, with the result that the dammed water can flow out of the retention basin. <IMAGE>
