PURPOSE:To obtain simultaneously sufficient recording characteristics and light transmitting property, by specifying the fixing time in fixing an ink to the surface of an ink-receiving layer and the linear transmittance of a recording material. CONSTITUTION:In a recording material comprising a light-transmitting base and an ink-receiving layer provided on the base, the fixing time in fixing to the ink-receiving layer an ink applied to the surface of the layer in an amount of 0.7mul per unit area (cm<2>) is not more than 3min under 20 deg.C and 65% RH, and the linear transmittance of the recording material is not less than 2%. The light- transmitting base may be, e.g., a film or sheet of a plastic such as a polyester, a diacetate, a triacetate, an acylic polymer, cellophane, celluloid, polyvinyl chloride and a polycarbonate or a glass sheet, which has excellent light-transmitting property. Accordingly, a recording material can be obtained which has sufficient light-transmitting property and excellent ink-fixing property and can be used for high-speed printing and multicolor printing by ink jet recording. |
