An actuating disc (8) is connected to the bicycle drive crank via a freewheel (4) which blocks in a direction opposite to that in which the drive freewheel blocks. The disc is inoperative during back pedalling of the crank. A transmission cable (14, 15) is arranged to activate the brake, e.g. a conventional rim brake, whilst deactivating the freewheel in the bicycle drive, allowing operation of the back pedal brake. A slip coupling is provided between the actuating arm and the pedal crank. The freewheel is of spring-loaded plunger type. |
