A rotary/tilting bit, i.e. a bit rotatable about the pocket joint formed by bit and bit pocket, is given additional advantageously firm seating by the bit pocket on the whole being connected as a unit to the hollow body. The bit-pocket interior space accommodating the bit shank is effectively protected from penetrating coal and rock dust (which tends to have a briquetting action) by the bit having sealing lips on either side of the longitudinal sides, which sealing lips close the interior space of the bit pocket lid-like in the assembled state. The clamping part inserted into the wedge channel is provided with a collar closing the mouth of the wedge channel, in which arrangement either a taper mechanism, an appropriately designed wedge with heavy clamping sleeve or a wedge to be displaced and actuated via a screw head serves as clamping part. Due to the effective sealing of the interior space of the bit pocket, jamming of the bit in the bit pocket during operation is impossible, so that dismantling is effectively facilitated irrespective of the service life of the bit. In addition, the selected embodiments of the clamping part lead to advantageous firm seating of the bit inside the bit pocket. <IMAGE>
