PURPOSE:To manufacture a highly accurate and highly reliable magnetic head by separating a metallic magnetic substance body into two parts, on which glass for track width is molded, and installing grooves in the separated bodies, and then, forming core blocks by inserting butting glass into the grooves through a spacer. CONSTITUTION:Glass 13 is molded to plural grooves 12 for controlling track width of a metallic magnetic substance body 11, and then, the metallic body 11 is divided into two parts so as to form metallic magnetic substance bodies 14 and 15. Then a groove 14C for winding is installed to one 14 of the metallic bodies 14 and 15 and grooves 14B and 15B for reinforcing the glass at the rear section are installed to both the bodies 14 and 15. Thereafter, the bodies 14 and 15 are put together after gap spacers are formed on the gap forming surfaces 14A and 15A of the bodies by sputtering method, etc., and glass 17 is inserted into the grooves 14B and 15B and welded. Thus a core block 18 is formed. The core block 18 is then sliced and cores are manufactured. Therefore, the metallic magnetic substance bodies 14 and 15 and glass 13 and 17 are firmly united in one body by mutual diffusion and the gap line becomes stable. Moreover, the tape sliding surface of this head is composed only of the magnetic substance and no wear of bonding agent exists and, therefore, reliability of this magnetic head is improved. In addition to the above, no unevenness in height occurs which results in a high accuracy. |
