PURPOSE:To decrease a fixed pattern noise by using a switchihg element provided between an output signal line of a solid-state image pickup element and a reference potential point so as to reset a signal electric charge appearing on an output line. CONSTITUTION:A power supply E and an MOS switch QA for signal electric charge reset are connected in series between an output signal line 2 of an MOS switch Q1 and an earth being a reference potential point, the output signal line 2 is connected to the power supply E when the switch QA is turned on and the signal electric charge is reset. It is necessary to reset the signal electric charge after a signal electric charge is led out sufficiently from the MOS switch Q1 to the output signal line 2, and if not, the reading of the signal electric charge is disabled. Thus, the spike noise included on the output signal line 2 is eliminated and a signal output of large amplitude is obtained, then the S/N is improved.
