PURPOSE:To execute a copying operation at a high speed by setting an original feeding direction by an original feeding device to a direction going toward the end side from the start side of scanning exposure, and also exposing an original in the course of an original feeding operation, and detecting the density of the original. CONSTITUTION:An original feeding device 5 is provided on the upper face of a copying machine body 1, and the copying machine is povided with an automatic picture density control device. Also, the direction for feeding in an original from an original platen 52 is set to a direction going toward a scanning exposure end position from a scanning exposure start position side by an optical part 2. Also, the automatic picture density control device detects the density of an original D by a light source 21 in the period in which the original D is being carried by the original feeding device 5. Accordingly, an independent time required for pre-scan is not required, and a copying operation can be executed at a high speed. |
