PURPOSE:To obtain a device with low power consumption and also possible for detecting a fault of a frequency divider by providing a switch controlling switchingly a clock supply fault detecting position at a pre-stage of a supply fault detector according to the necessity of a clock signal. CONSTITUTION:A switch 6 controls switching the clock supply fault detecting position according to the necessity of a required clock signal 12. When the required clock signal 12 is necessary, an oscillated clock signal 11 from an oscillator 1 passes through a gate 3 by a control signal 14 from a controller 5 and is applied to the frequency divider 2. This oscillated clock signal 11 is frequency-divided by the frequency divider 2 and the required clock signal 12 is obtained. The switch 6 is switched by the control signal 14 so as to transmit the required clock signal 12 to the clock supply fault detector 4. When no signal 12 is required, the oscillated clock signal 11 from the oscillator 1 is controlled by the control signal 14 so as not to pass through the gate 3 thereby stopping the clock supply to the frequency divider 2.
