The invention relates to a dental pin for screwing, and at the same time cutting, a screw thread into a pulp canal, having a shaft in which there is arranged a hollow space which divides a longitudinal section of the shaft into a plurality of legs arranged at a distance from one another; with a self-cutting screw thread on the legs in order to form or cut a screw thread in the dental root when the pin is inserted by screwing, the legs on the hollow space being movable towards one another when the pin is inserted so as to cut a screw thread in the dental root in order to avoid the occurrence of forces destroying the walls of the dental root, characterised in that the hollow space extends from the insertion end of the shaft at least beyond the dental root in order to break down tooth-destroying forces between the shaft and the dental root towards the atmosphere, at least one slot extending over part of the shaft in the longitudinal direction thereof and forming the legs, and at least one depression continuing the slot and forming an outlet recess on the shaft.
