PURPOSE:To elevate a cleaner in such a manner that the cleaner and rotary scrapers for cleaning the side of a furnace lid do not interface with each other, by connecting an elevator for high-pressure fluid or powder spraying nozzles for use cleaning a gas canal of the furnace lid in such a manner that said elevator is moved at an elevating speed slower than that of an elevator for a machine stand and both are allowed to ascend or descend simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:An elevator 11 for a machine stand 6 is descended by a driving device 16 to clean both sides of a furnace lid 29 with rotary scrapers 17, 17. Filth on knife edges 30, 30 can be cleaned by high-pressure fluid (water) sprayed from nozzles 24, 24 elevated by an elevator 35 for the spraying nozzles 24, 24 connected through the rotating shaft of sprockets 9, 13. When the nozzles 24, 24 are moved from the lower end of the furnace lid 29 downward, the scrapers 17, 17 reach both side of the lower end of the lid 29 and both members 17, 24 are stopped by the stop of the common driving device 16 without making interference with each other. Both members 17, 24 are then restored to the original positions by reversely rotating the driving device 16.
