PURPOSE:To improve an edge effect and to obtain an excellent image by forming a dielectric layer on a conductive base and embedding many spherical particles into a dielectric adhesive agent in contact with the dielectric layer then cutting the particle surface to expose the particle surface so as to have a specific surface area. CONSTITUTION:After a dielectric layer 2 is formed on, for example, a cylindrical conductive base 1, a dielectric adhesive agent layer 3b is thinly coated on the layer 2 and thereafter spherical particles 3a of Cu, etc. having 74-104mu grain size are uniformly sprayed onto one layer on said adhesive agent layer so as to contact with the layer 2 and are dried. The particles 3a are coated with the same adhesive agent 3'b and the adhesive agent layers 3b, 3'b are cured by heating. The particles 3a together with the integrated adhesive agent layer 3 are cut by using an external cylindrical grinding machine or the like after the working axis is matched with the working axis in the stage of forming the layer 2 by using a centering jig 9, thereby forming an electrode layer 3. The thickness t3 of the layer 3 is made to 52-62mu and slightly larger than the radius of the spherical particles 3a so that the exposed surface area of the spherical particles is >=45% of the surface area of the electrode layer 3. An edge effect is thus made effective without dislodging, etc. of the particles 3a and the developer carrying body with which the line image is obtainable at a substantial density and which has excellent durability, etc. is obtd. |
