PURPOSE:To obtain magnetic powder having improved magnetic characteristics by subjecting a magnetic alloy contg. a prescribed atomic ratio or above of a rare earth element to hydrogen occulusion in a hydrogen atmosphere then pulverising easily the alloy under high pulverizability in an inert gaseous atmosphere or hydrogen atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic alloy contg. >=3atomic%>=1 kinds of rare earth element (R) (for example, RCo5, R2Co17 or R-Fe-B magnetic alloy) is subjected to the hydrogen absorption in the hydrogen atomsphere. The hydrogen occulusion is preferably executed in the high-pressure hydrogen atmosphere. The above-mentioned magnetic alloy in the hydrogen-contg. state is then ground and pulverized, by which the easy pulverization is made possible with the consid erably improved pulverizability. The pulverizability of all the magnetic alloys contg. the rare earth element is remarkably improved according to this inven tion. Since this method is highly effective even with the particulary viscous alloy, the easy grinding and pulverizing are made possible. |
