PURPOSE:To enhance peelability of a transferred image from a pohotosensitive material, light resistance, etc., by using a specified polymer contg. an imidazole group as a mordant to be used for a material for fixing a transferred dye from a dye image formed on a thermodevelopable photosensitive material. CONSTITUTION:A dye fixing material contains as a mordant a polymer having a structural constituent each monomer unit represented by formula I in which A is a vinyl monomer unit having no imidazole or imidazolium group; R1, R3 are each H, alkyl, or the like; R2, R5 are each H, alkyl, or the like; R4 us alkyl or aralkyl; X<-> is an acid residue; x is 0-80mol%; y is 0-100mol%; and z is 0- 50mol%. It is embodied by formulae II and III. A photosensitive material composed of photosensitive silver halide, a binder, a mobile dye-forming compd., etc. is imagewise exposed, heated to imagewise form a mobile hydrophilic dye, and said dye fixing material immobilizes it.
