PURPOSE:To prevent the temperature within an air-conditioned room from lowering by introducing air in the ceiling space into the air-conditioned room at the time of defrosting operation thereby to prevent infiltration of external air into the air-conditioned room. CONSTITUTION:At the time of normal operation, openings 11a, 11b, 12a and 12b of dampers 14a and 14b are closed. At the time of defrosting operation, dampers 14a and 14b are moved to positions indicated by dotted lines by means of solenoids (not shown), lower ends of the damper 14a and 14b brought into contact with dew saucers 10a and 10b to interrupt the flow of air from the heat exchangers 9a and 9b to perpendicular parts 7a and 7b, and further openings 11a, 11b, 12a and 12b are opened. As a result, cool air from the heat exchangers 9a and 9b is discharged from the opening 11a and 11b into the ceiling space 3, and the discharge of cool air into the air-conditioned room 2 is prevented and an atmospheric pressure difference between the ceiling space 3 and the air-conditioned room is produced, and air within the ceiling space 3 flows into the air- conditioned room 2 from the openings 12a and 12b. Accordingly, infiltration of the external air into the air-conditioned room can be prevented.
