PURPOSE:To enhance image sharpness, durability against successive copying, etc., by using a specified triarylmethane type dye as an electrostatic charge controller and also as a colorant. CONSTITUTION:An objective electrophotographic toner is obtained by successively carrying out melting, mixing, solidifying, and pulverizing of a binder resin and, as a charge controller and also as a colorant, a triarylmethane dye represented by the shown formula in which R1 is H, 1-6C alkyl, or the like; R2, R3 are each 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy; X is H or halogen; n is 1, 2, or 3; and Z<-> is an anion. The obtained toner gives a charge quantity proper for developing an electrostatic image by friction with a carrier, and the charge quantity is retained constant during repeated developments, and its distribution is kept also uniform and constant. Therefore, the images developed with this toner have uniform and constant density. |
