PURPOSE:To enable to output a highly accurate resemblance calculation output even for a seal impression printed with largely different densities from registered seal impression by providing an ID information area and plural impression registration areas and making collation and comparison. CONSTITUTION:When collating a seal impression, an ID information area 51 and plural seal impression registration area 52 are provided on a registration orignal, and impression is made in the area 52 to obtain seal impressions of three different densities, thick state, thin state and intermediate state. In collating a seal impression when an original to be collated is inputted to a seal impression registration collating device, it is inputted to a seal impression cutting out circuit 38 through each circuit. The original to be collated is displayed on a display unit 42 and confirmed, and the confirmed seal impression information is inputted to a seal impression comparing circuit 41. Three kinds of seal impression information stored in a seal impression storing area 40 ar inputted from the area 51 to the circuit 41, and compared with seal impression information from the original to be collated successively. Consequently, highly accurate resemblance calculation output can be outputted for a seal impression which is largely different in density from registered seal impression.
