This method consists in first interrupting the circulation of the normal cooling fluid 6-7-5-15 and thereafter in circulating through the nests of tubes to be descaled while still operational of an industrial cooler 1, in closed circuit, a descaling solution forming part of an independent circuit that is connectable up to said exchanger, said solution being contained in a reservoir 9 which is continually maintained at a given temperature by means of a coolant 12, the temperature being regulated by an appropriate means (sensor 10a) acting on a valve 11, circulation being ensured by an appropriate means 10, connection being achieved by means 6-15 whereby said independent circuit is brought into the circuit or disconnected therefrom until said descaling operation has been completed; after which this circulation is interrupted and the normal cooling fluid circulation is restored to the circuit 6-7. <IMAGE>
