Optical transmission system with laser control.

There are already known optical transmission systems for pulsed transmission signals which comprise a control of the biasing current and modulation current of the laser diode by means of a pilot signal of low amplitude which is of low frequency by comparison with the transmission signals. During the turn-on phase, difficulties can arise in this case with respect to adjusting the working point of the laser diode by means of the biasing current. According to the invention, the mean light power of the laser diode is used to control the modulation current and the pilot signal amplitude is used to control the biasing current, during the turn-on phase the biasing current control is turned off, and an unregulated boosting current depends on the control voltage occurring for the modulation current.
