发明名称 OPTICAL FIBER GRINDING METHOD
摘要 PURPOSE:To have an enhanced transmission efficiency by allowing the end face of optical fiber to slide on the grinding face of a flat held in stationary state by reciprocative combination movement both in X- and Y-axes under pressure contact, and thereby providing possibility of grinding the optical fiber uniformly and in high precision. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber plug P is depressed by a spring 5d to protrude a pherule tip below a seat board 4b, so as to place the foremost face of the fiber F in pressure contact with the grinding face 1a. Then a traveling table 6 is reciprocated along the X-axis by rotating a screw shaft 15 in regular and reverse directions, which is switched over by one-way gears 16, 17 at a specified period of cycle. When, on the other hand, a holder mechanism is reciprocated along Y-axis by the motor, the gear 16 makes regular and reverse rotation on a rack 18, wherein the shaft 15 is rotated regularly during said regular rotation to move the traveling table 6 in one direction along X-axis, and the compressed spring switches gears from 16 to 17, which in the same manner moves the traveling table 6 in the other direction along X-axis. Repetition of these motions provides an X-Y combined reciprocative motion, which enables uniform grinding of optical fibers.
