Cutting and thrusting weapons, especially when used in the sporting sector, are exposed to high stress. A particular disadvantage are the notches made in the blades, for example during fencing. These notches can lead to fracture of the blades with serious consequences. The sides can usually be prevented from fracturing with a blade consisting of a composite steel which is constructed in its inner region with a softer core material of a hardness of at most 30 HRC, adjacent to which there is at least one hardenable steel, preferably essentially enveloping the inner region.

|
