Gripper device for barrel containers

The gripper device has, in a gripper frame (1) which can be moved vertically and laterally by means of a lifting unit, a multiplicity of gripper rods (3) which are arranged perpendicular to the plane of the frame and parallel to one another and which each have a supporting nose (4) on their lower end projecting from the gripper frame (1). Four gripper rods (3) which are evenly distributed round the circumference of the barrel are assigned to each barrel (6) of the barrel container and are rotatably mounted in groups of one, two and four in the gripper frame (1). All gripper rods (3) are twisted jointly, simultaneously and in dependence on one another by means of a centrally driveable system of levers (5) and by means of gear wheels (8) which are provided on the gripper rods (3) and intermesh with one another in the groups of gripper rods, so that as a result the supporting noses (4) are pivoted into a supporting position under the top barrel rims (6a) or hoops and are also pivoted laterally, back out of the region of the barrel rims (6a) or hoops. To receive a barrel container, the gripper device is moved over it and then lowered, fixing rods (18) with centring cones (19) providing precise adjustment of the gripper rods (3) to the barrels (6), and then lowering of the device causes the gripper rods (3) to move round and between the barrels (6); after that, the gripper rods (3) are twisted and their noses (4) grip the barrel rims (6a) or hoops from below in a supportive fashion, so that the barrel container ...
