1330583 Multi-layered cups BELLAPLAST MASCHINEN-VERKAUFS-AG 19 April 1971 [29 Jan 1970] 20547/71 Heading A4A [Also in Divisions B5 B8 and F4] A container such as a cup A comprises a sidewall E formed of at least two layers of thermoplastics material, the facing surfaces of the layers conforming to one another, but being only attached to one another at at least one localized area. The layers may be attached to one another by heatwelding an annular zone H in the rim D or by providing an anchoring region (W), Fig. 2 (not shown), in the side walls adjacent the mouth or bottom of the container. The anchoring region (W) may be formed by curling the layers over at the rim (M) and/or providing an annular nesting shoulder (P) or a series of nesting bosses (R) or convolutions. In use the innermost layer may become spaced from the adjacent layer to form an insulating gap. In a double-layered side wall, the outer layer may be thicker or thinner than the inner layer. The thicker layer may be polystyrene of preferably of impact resistant grade, styreneacrylonitryl co-polymersor A. B. S., the thinner layer may be P.V.C., polypropylene, polyethylene, or anti-static polystyrene. The container may comprise a side-wall having two thin outer layers and a supporting centre layer. The container is formed by simultaneously thermo-forming superimposed webs of the layers. (See Division B5). |
