A device for breaking foam intended to be placed in a space in which a mixture comprising at least one foaming liquid is flowing, in the path followed by the mixture. According to the invention the device consists of a static structure 7 which has a large area of contact with the travelling mixture and which is coated with a surface-active product whose surface tension coefficient is much lower than the surface tension coefficient of the foaming liquids present in the mixture. The invention can be applied to the removal of foams in hydrocarbon mixtures. <IMAGE>
