Rubber composite for a solid golf ball is prepared from substrate rubber by blending 3-50 parts of zinc salt of dimethacrylate, diacrylate, or carboxylic acid monomer having an ethylene unsaturated bond. Microcapsulation of the water-in-soluble zinc compd. is obtained by adding an aqueous soln. of metal compd., such as zinc acetate, calcium chloride, or their derivatives, to the dispersed mixture of water-insoluble zinc compd. and a water-soluble polymerizing compd., such as sodium polyacrylate.
