For tethering devices of this type, the invention provides separate locking bars (64, 65) which, with their chamfered locking-bar end (640, 650) resting on a niched wall (68), each close off two niches (66, 67), with the result that a ring (50) of a neck band for the livestock can be suspended therein. A ring (50) suspended in the secondary locking bar (65) can be released individually by raising the secondary locking bar (65) and thus forms an individual barrier. The ring (50) can be suspended in the group release mechanism by pressing against the chamfer of the locking-bar end (640) of the main locking bar (64), it being possible for the latter to yield against the force of the spring (654). If the shaft (7) is rotated by a central drive, then, via the crank (70) and the connecting rod (71), it takes the locking-bar tube (653) along with it, which tube, resting on the pin (655), forcibly releases the main locking bar (64). A reliable group release mechanism and individual barrier for livestock can thus be achieved. <IMAGE>
