An opening roller (2) is arranged in the interior of a housing (1) of an opening device for an open-end spinning machine. The housing (1) has, in its outer surface, housing orifices (12, 13, 15) which serve for feeding fibre material into the interior (11) and for removing material from the interior (11). The outer surface is covered by a thin-walled wear-resistant cladding (4) which has perforations (40, 41, 42) in the region of the housing orifices (12, 13, 15). A wear-resistant insert (6) is arranged in a groove of the housing (1). This insert (6) limits a housing orifice (13, 15), serving for the removal of material (fibres or dirt constituents), in the fibre transport direction and is secured in its position by bearing positively against the outer face of the cladding (4). <IMAGE>
