PURPOSE:To make it possible to judge a cylinder by software without using a cylinder judging sensor, by arranging a knock sensor so that it is deviated from the center of an engine, and comparing the average level of the specified cylinder with a specified cylinder judging level. CONSTITUTION:A knock sensor is arranged so that it is deviated from the center of an engine. The output is inputted to a control unit ECU. When knocking is not generated, the average level Vm of each cylinder and the average level Vt of all the cylinder are obtained. Then the Vt is multiplied by a specified coefficient alpha and a cylinder judging level is obtained. The coefficient alpha is determined so that, e.g., the number 2 cylinder can be stably judged. The judging level and the average level Vm of the cylinder this time are compared. When the Vm is smaller than the judging level, it is judged that the cylinder this time is the number 2 cylinder. Therefore, the cylinder can be judged by software without using a cylinder judging sensor. |
