摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the life of bearings by cooling the specific part of the outside wheel of bearing in the roll chock of a rolling mill. SOLUTION: With a rolling load applied to the lower roll by means of the lower roll chock 6a of a rolling mill, a partθof the rollers 8 inside the lower roll chock 6a is brought into contact rotatably with the inside wheel 9 of the bearings, which causes heat and a high temp. through friction and the stirring resistance of a lubricant; also, with a plastic deformation occurring by the rolling load, sticking takes place in the rollers and the inside/outside wheels of the bearings. On the other hand, in the non-contacting part of the rollers 8 in the inside wheel 9, little heat is caused, showing a low temp. compared with the partθ. Accordingly, by cooling only the outside wheel 7 inside the lower roll chock 6a in the area where the plastic deformation of the rollers 8 occurs, only the rollers 8 are cooled that are in contact rotatably with the outside wheel 7 in a high temp. so as to prevent plastic deformation; simultaneously, by minimizing the temp. difference between the non-contacting part of the inside wheel 9 and the outside wheel 7, a thermal deformation is eliminated on the entire circumference of the outside wheel 7, so that rolling is performed while a clearance 10 is maintained for a set clearance between the rollers 8 and the inside wheel 9 of the bearings.
