PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extremely easily prevent lubricating oil or water droplet by dew condensation from falling from a coil case to a brake drum through an extremely simple structure. SOLUTION: In the hoisting machine for elevator including a drum type electromagnetic brake, a drum cover is installed between a coil case and a brake drum of the electromagnetic brake so as to cover an upper surface of the brake drum extending over between a pair of brake shoes. The drum cover includes cutouts provided at both ends thereof. The drum cover is installed by engaging the cutouts with a pair of levers disposed outside the brake drum or inserting them respectively between the pair of levers and the pair of brake shoes.
