NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R is lower alkyl; Y<-> is anion residue of cholic acid). EXAMPLE:3-dl-alpha-Tocopherylcarbonyl-1-alkyl-pyridinium cholic acid salt. USE:Useful as an easily absorbable alpha-tocopherol niconinate (or isonicotinate) agent. It can be rapidly absorbed through the digestive tracts. The absorbability of the compound is about 8 times that of dl-alpha-tocopherol nicotinate lower alkyl halide (or p-toluenesulfonate). PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be prepared by reacting the lower alkyl halide of the alpha-tocopherol nicotinate (or isonicotinate) of formula II(X<-> is halogen ion) with a cholic acid.
