PURPOSE:To enable the motion range of a clutch to be set over a wide range, by a method wherein an orifice hole is formed in a clutch disc, and a throttle part, throttling a communicating passage between an oil passage and an oil discharge port in a relatively low car speed range exceeding a given car speed, is mounted to a control valve. CONSTITUTION:An orifice hole 31, intercommunicating the both sides of a clutch disc 19a, is formed in the clutch disc, a ninth oil passage L9, communicated to a control chamber 20, is connected to an oil discharge port 23 through switching motion of a control valve 21 to the clutch connecting position side, and a throttle part 32, throttling a communicating passage between the nith oil passage L9 and the oil discharge port 23 in a relatively low car speed range exceeding a given car speed at which oil discharge from the control chamber 20 is started, is installed to the control valve 21. This controls reduction in an inner pressure of the control chamber 20, and reduces the engaging force, equivalent to such control, of a clutch 19. Thus, even in a speed range in which a torque converter pressure is held at a lower limit pressure necessary to transmission of fluid torque, the engaging force of the clutch 19 can be changed.
