Method and device for repairing leakage points in pipes

Repairs of this type are carried out with a sleeve, the explosive charge of which acts directly on the sleeve wall and presses the latter onto the pipe inner wall to be repaired. In addition to the explosion welding, other regions of the sleeve are to be connected to the inner wall of the pipe by hard-soldering. To improve the repair, a method is proposed which produces less heat and only uses explosion welding. For this purpose, there is provided in a sleeve (4) an insert (7) which divides the interior of the sleeve into two chambers (9). The chambers are filled with a liquid and closed at the sleeve ends by discs (6). Each end of the insert (7) bears an explosive charge (8). Electronics for control and firing are arranged on the discs (6). After simultaneous firing of the explosive charge (8) on both sides there is a sharp increase in pressure in the liquid, which propagates therein, spreads out the sleeve (4) progressively from the explosion side and cold-welds it to the inner wall of the pipe. <IMAGE>
