PURPOSE:To enhance the printing speed by not printing data for graduations having no print data but printing data for gradations having print data. CONSTITUTION:The presence or the absence of gradation is detected in a gradation detecting part 13 through a buffer memory 8 especially with respect to multigradation print data in retrieval and printing of a registered seal impression or the like. A signal is sent to a gradation indicating part 14 and a transfer control circuit 15 only for gradations having data. When receiving a detection signal of gradation having data from the gradation detecting part 13, the gradation indicating part 14 issues a command to the buffer memory 8 and the transfer control circuit 15. That is, print data is inputted to the buffer memory 8, and the presence or the absence of data of plural gradations is detected by the gradation detecting part 13, and data is transferred from the buffer memory 8 to a print register 12 only for gradations having data and is printed. |
