PURPOSE:An improved guide plate for application to inhibit making the thickness of a liquid film to be applied ununiform with the meniscus of the guide plate, by defining the difference between the thickness of a coating liquid film comprising two or more layers flowing on a slide surface and the height of a part vertical to said slide surface at the side of the guide plate existent in contact with he liquid within a predetermined value, is obtd. CONSTITUTION:With respect to an inclined slide surface 4, the height of the vertical part 10 of a guide plate 7 for application is continuously changed between the thickness h1 of a liquid film just after the liquid of the uppermost layer flows away therefrom and the thickness h2 of a multilayered film just before application. Hereon, the thickness of the liquid film at the middle part is not necessarily made equal to the height of said vertical part 10 at said position, but the difference therebetween is preset within + or -0.5mm., pref. + or -0.3mm.. By using the guide plate 7 of this kind, the liquid film can be horizontally held while making the height of the meniscus zero. In the drawing, 1 and 2 are slits, 3 and 5 are outlet parts, 11 is an inclined surface, and 12 is the inclined surface of a top end, respectively.
