PURPOSE:To enable the discrimination of luster effect involving appearance, clearness and brightness by projecting a chart scale graphic having two straight line, black and white, in the same shape by a diffusion light to observe the degree of disturbance. CONSTITUTION:Light of a lighting lamp 1 is projected on the surface of a sample 4 transmitted by a diffusion layer 7 of glass, a diffusion layer 8 of a semi-transparent film and a chart scale 9. In the chart scale 9, two adjacent straight lines black and white the same in the width are arranged parallel in either an arithmetic or geometric progression. Thus, the chart acale 9 is projected on the surface of the sample 4 in a nearly complete diffusion light and a diffusion effect allows the whole figure of the scale to be projected evenly on the surface of the sample thoroughly thereby eliminating misrecognition. The scale comprises figures the same both in the length and width thereby getting rid of the problem on direction.
